Dear Vlammie family

The arrangement with the DBE still applies as in the previous letter. We may deviate with the phasing in of grades.

1. GRADE 10 AND GRADE 11
This implies that the grade 10 and 11 group 2 will start on 20 August with day 2.
Grade 10 and 11 group 1 will start on 21 August with day 3.

2. GRADE 8 AND GRADE 9
The training will start from the 17th of August. According to the guidelines of the DBE, each grade is divided into 2 groups to be in line with the 50% attendance ratio. The training will start from 08:00 and end at 11:00. The pupils can be collected from 11:00 at Bosmol or Pavilion. Learners will not be allowed to wait outside of the school.

All the rules and procedures will be explained with the learners during their training. All information will also be passed on to the parents. Problems will be dealt with.

3. GRADE 8 & 9 FASING IN

GROUP 1 begin on 21 August with day 3.

GROUP 2 begin on 24 August with day 3.

4. GRADE 8 TO 12 ARRANGEMENTS AND PROCEDURES

Prior to the start of the school day:
The entrance gate will be open from 06h30. Please make use of the ‘Vleiland” road and gate at the “Bosmol” after which parents must exit through the Lowvelder/Sport gate. Please keep left and respect the one way traffic system. Turn left in the direction of Madiba Avenue upon exiting. No right turn. Learners being dropped off in Geelhout Avenue (Busses/Taxis) enter through the Lowvelder/Sport gate.
After school:
Follow the same procedure. The gate will open at 13h00. Parents may pick up the learners at the “Bosmol “and leave the school premises immediately. No learner will be allowed on the school premises after 14h30 (The school will be sanitised from 14h30 every day). We request that all learners should not be on the school grounds no later than 14:10 unless the learners have extra class.

MacVlam gate:
This is the only entrance to be used by the learners. They will be received by the teachers who will implement the following procedure:

· Temperatures will be taken
· Sanitizing will take place
· Standard questions will be asked

Following this, the learners will proceed to the first period, starting at exactly 07h30. We request the cooperation of all the learners. After school the grade 8 and 9 learners will leave through the same gate. Grade 10 and 11 will make use of the gate at the SE room. Grade 12 learners will use the gate at the matric parking.

No gathering or socialising after school will be allowed.

· The last period ends at 13h45
· Extended school hours will end at 14h30

The MacVlam gate will be open until 07h30. Learners that are late must report at the MAIN gate with their parents. The “Vleiland” and Lowvelder/Sport gate will close at 07h30. Learners who arrive after said time must report at the main gate with their parents.

5. TREATMENT OF VISITORS AT THE SCHOOL (INCLUDES PARENTS)

Everyone entering the site should be subject to the same precautions to protect our entire community. So the following procedure will apply:
• Visitors’ temperatures will be monitored at the gate. Our security guards will be trained to handle it.
• Visitors’ hands will be disinfected with a disinfectant at the gate.
• Visitors will be required to wear masks.
• Visitors will be limited.
• Visitors will have to sign the register.
• Visitors must make an appointment before the time or inform reception telephonically if learners have to be signed out.

6. SCHOOL RULES
ALL school rules must be adhered to at all times. The rules in connection with COVID-19 will be strictly enforced. We ask for your cooperation in this regard.

7. SCHOOL FEES
Please receive our sincere appreciation to all parents who have still diligently paid their school fees. The school relies on this funding in order to stay functional. Should there be a need to make arrangements due to financial difficulties during this trying time, feel free to contact the financial office.

8. SCHOOL FOOD PARCELS
We urgently need food donations for our Vlammie families in need. If you are able to assist please contact Mrs Jolanda Nel. Any donations, however small, will be greatly appreciated.

9. LEARNERS WHO ARE LATE FOR SCHOOL
Ensure your child is on time for their first period which begins 07:30. Your cooperation in this regard will be high appreciated.

12. APPEARANCE AND DISCIPLINE
The school appeals to you to ensure that your child follows the school rules when he / she returns to school. We are fully aware that there are going to be adjustments and challenges but we trust we will handle them accordingly.

13. SOCIAL DISTANCING AND FACE MASKS
It is of vital importance that social distancing be adhered to especially during breaks. Learner have to wear their face masks at all times.

14. SOCIAL MEDIA
Should you have any concerns regarding the school in general, please contact the school first and allow us to assist you to ensure you receive correct information with regards to your any of your concerns.
