Dear Parents
I believe and trust that our Vlammie family is well rested and ready for 2021. The school and staff are looking forward to 2021.
There are concerns regarding the year but the variable will be dealt with as it happens. However, we are confident that there will be a full academic year.
We welcome the grade 8 learners and every learner who has joined the Vlammie family. Make Bergvlam your home.
Our matric group for 2021, make it the best year you have ever had. Hard work is needed but we have full confidence in you.
While we are still at level three of the state lockdown, only the following are for the beginning of the school year:
• the school urges parents and learners to wear masks at all times
• wash your hands regularly and avoid unnecessary gatherings
• learners who are ill should not be sent to school
• notify the school immediately if your child tests positive for the virus and / or when he / she was in contact with a person who tested positive; doctors’ letters are requested upon return.

School officially starts on Monday February 15 2021, for the following grades:
• Gr. 12
• Gr. 10
• Gr. 8
Tuesday 16 February 2021, for the following grades:
• Gr. 11
• Gr. 9
• Gr. 8
The learners use the SE Gate and the gate at the pedestrian side gate next to the main entrance. All Grade 8 learners will be guided to the school hall.

3. MATRIC RESULTS
We have not yet received the matric results for 2020. You will be notified as soon as we received them from the Department of Education. When the results have been published by the Department of Education, we will post them on our website www.bergvlam.co.za.
4. SCHOOL FEES
The school fees for 2021 is R22 600.00 per learner. We thank everyone who has already made payments. You are welcome to make arrangements for payments at the financial office should you require assistance.
5. TEXTBOOKS
There are still many textbooks outstanding from 2020. We request you to bring them back before the new textbooks can be issued.
6. SUBJECT FEES / TEXTBOOK FEES – 2021
Opportunity will be given for the learners to pay for subject and textbook fees on 15 and 16 February at the financial office. Should you pay via internet banking, please send your child to the financial office with the proof of payment made so they can verify the payment. All arrears must also be settled.
7. INFORMATION BOOKLET
Each learner receives a booklet indicating contact details as well as a school photo for identification.
8. WEB and D6 COMMUNICATOR
All the information you need is on the school’s website www.bergvlam.co.za. You are requested to register on D6 Communicator to receive daily school communication. Also follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
9. PERSONAL INFORMATION
If your personal information has changed, please make contact with the school to give through the correct information.
10. APPOINTMENTS
Should you require to see management or any of the teachers, please ensure you have made the necessary appointment as you will not be allowed to enter the school grounds.
11. SPORT / CULTURE / SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
As a result of the virus, all activities are still on hold until we have received further guidance from the Department of Education.
12. BOSMOL ROAD
The Bosmol road is under construction and cannot be used. We apologise for any inconvenience.
13. GOVERNING BODY ELECTION
The Governing body elections will be taking place from 16 – 18 March, further information will be sent through closer to the time.
We are excited about 2021 and look forward to the highlights it can bring.
