• Grys kort- of langbroek.
• Wit hemp met skoolwapen op sak.
• Swart leergordel met ‘n gewone gespe saam met langbroek.
• Grys skoolkouse met strepies saam met kortbroek.
• Kort grys kouse saam met langbroek, GEEN WIT KOUSE NIE.
Swart skoolskoene met veters (vasgemaak), geen gespes of insteekskoene (Grasshoppers, Bata of Bronx).
• Skoolbaadjie, skooltrui of oortrektrui mag saam met skooldrag gedra word.

a) SENIORDRAG (Gr 11 en 12)
• Grys kort of langbroek.
• Wit boordjiehemp met langmoue of kortmouhemp met skoolwapen op sak.
• Bergvlam-skooldas.
• Skoolbaadjies MOET ‘n skoolwapen op hê en met ‘n das gedra word.
• Swart leergordel met ‘n gewone gespe saam met langbroek.
• Swart skoolskoene met veters(vasgemaak). (Grasshoppers, Bronx of Bata).
• Grys skoolkouse met strepie saam met kortbroek; en kort grys kouse saam met langbroek. GEEN WIT KOUSE NIE.
• Skoolbaadjie, skooltrui of oortrektrui mag saam met seniordrag gedra word.
• Oortrektrui mag nie oor skooltrui gedra word nie.

b) ALGEMENE VOORKOMS (Gr 8 – 12)
• Skooltrui moet netjies sit, heel wees en moue mag nie opgeskuif of opgerol word nie.
• Dieselfde reël geld vir skoolbaadjies, windbrekers en sweetpakbaadjies.
• Geen kettings, armbande, ringe, tongringe, oorringe, “piercing” (mag nie toegeplak word nie) mag saam met skooldrag vertoon word nie.
• Tatoeëring mag nie saam met skooldrag vertoon word nie.
• Broekspype moet nie wyer gemaak of uitgerafel word nie. Langbroeke se pype mag nie afgewerk word of uitklok nie. Some moet ingewerk wees; onderste naat mag nie losgetrek wees nie.
• Seuns se broeke moet netjies sit – nie te klein of te groot wees nie.
• Bergvlam serpe en donkerblou handskoene word toegelaat gedurende wintermaande (Mei – Augustus).
• Provinsiale kleure: Slegs eie provinsiale kleure (baadjie of sweetpakbaadjie) van die vorige jaar en huidige jaar mag op Vrydae gedra word.
• Vlammiedrag is verpligtend vir alle leerders. Netjiese tekkies in ‘n oorwegend neutrale kleur met kort, wit sportkouse word saam met Vlammiedrag gedra.
• Die volledige skoolsweetpak mag tydens die Junie en November eksamen gedra word.
• Provinsiale drag mag SLEGS op ‘n Vrydag gedra word.

c) HARE EN BAARD
• Kuiwe moet minstens een vinger bokant die wenkbroulyn wees.
• Geen “trappe”, “walle” of “mow hawk”-styl nie.
• “Square cut” is toelaatbaar maar nie dikker as 5 mm nie.
Geen uitspattige haarstyle bv. middelpaadjie met lang kuiwe of kaalkoppe nie.
• Bakkebaard (’sidies’) slegs tot in helfte van oor.
• Baarde en snorbaarde word nie toegelaat nie.
• Seuns moet elke oggend skoongeskeer wees.
• Kleur van hare en sonstrepe slegs volgens skakering van natuurlike haarkleur.
• Geen “wetlook” voorkoms word toegelaat nie.
• Hare moet netjies, uitgedun en beheerbaar wees.
• Hare mag slegs “gegel” word as dit nie langer as 2 cm is nie (geen oormatige gel nie).
• Geen “dreadlocks”, gevlegde of gekartelde hare nie.
• Hare mag nie oor die ore, die wenkbroue en kraag gaan nie.

Boys

SCHOOL UNIFORM BOYS
• Summer: 1 September – 30 April
• Winter: 1 May – 31 August
• Interim Period: 1 May – 31 May
1 September – 30 September

a) JUNIORS (Gr 8 – 10)
• Grey shorts / long grey pants.
• White school shirt with school emblem on pocket.
Only brown or black belts with normal buckles to be worn with grey long pants.
• Long grey school socks with turquoise stripes worn with short pants.
• Grey school socks with long pants, NO WHITE SOCKS.
• Black school shoes – with shoe laces (tied)- no buckles or slip-on shoes (i.e. Grasshoppers, Bata or Bronx).
• A school jersey, pull-over or school blazer.
• Pullover may not be worn over school jersey.
• Only white T-shirts with a V-neck may be worn underneath the school shirt. The T-shirt should not be visible.
• Provincial colours may only be worn on a Friday.
• Drimacs may only be worn with Vlammie or sport wear.
• Athletic shorts may not be worn with Vlammie wear.

b) SENIORS (Gr 11 & 12)
• Grey long or short pants.
• White collar shirt with school badge on pocket – short / long sleeves.
• Bergvlam school tie.
• Ties MUST always be worn with a blazer, blazer must have a school badge.
• Black / brown leather belt with normal buckles allowed with long pants.
• Black school shoes – with shoe laces (tied), (i.e. Grasshoppers, Bata or Bronx).
• Grey school socks with long pants, NO WHITE SOCKS.
• School blazer, jersey or pull-over may be worn with senior uniform.
• Pullover may not be worn over school jersey.
• Only a white V-neck T-shirt may be worn underneath a white shirt.
No printing on T-shirts. T-shirt may not stick out or be seen in any way.
• Provincial colours may only be worn on Fridays.
• Drimacs may only be worn with Vlammiewear and sportswear.
• Athletic shorts may not be worn with Vlammiewear.


c) GENERAL APPEARANCE (Gr. 8 – 12)
School jersey must be neat and not faded. The sleeves may not be pushed or rolled up.
• Same rule applies to school jackets, windbreakers and tracksuit jackets.
• No chains, bracelets, rings, tongue rings, earrings, piercings (not allowed to be covered) may be worn with school uniform.
• Tattoos may not be visible with school uniform.
Legs of long pants may not be flared or narrowed down, torn, undone or have frayed seams. Hems must be stitched up.
• Boys’ pants must fit properly – they may not be too big or too small.
• Bergvlam scarves and navy gloves may be worn during winter only (May- August).
• Provincial Colours: Jacket or tracksuit jacket of the present and prior year may be worn on Fridays.
• Vlammie wear is compulsory for all learners. Only neat neutral colour takkies with short white sport socks may be worn with Vlammie wear.
• The complete school tracksuit may be worn during the June and November Examinations.
• Provincial wear may ONLY be worn on a Friday.

d) HAIR AND BEARD
• Fringes must be at least one vinger above the eyebrow line.
• No steps, layers or mow-hawk styles.
• “Square cut” allowed – no thicker than 5mm.
No extraordinary hairstyles such as middle paths with long fringes or side bangs or bald heads.
• Sideburns only up to mid-ear.
• No moustaches or beards are allowed.
• Boys must be clean shaven every morning.
• Highlights & colouring of hair may only be according to the shade of learners’ natural hair colour.
• No “wet-look” is allowed.
• Hair must be neat and tidy and combed.
• Hair may only be gelled when 2 cm long (or shorter). (No excessive gel allowed).
• Dreadlocks, plaited or permed hair are absolutely forbidden.
• Hair may not grow over the ears, eyebrows or collar.

Meisies

SKOOLDRAG: MEISIES

a) JUNIORDRAG (Gr 8 – 10)
• Die skoolrok soos voorgeskryf – Lengte: 5cm bokant knie.
• ’n Bergvlam skooltrui, skoolbaadjie of oortrektrui (pull-over) mag daarmee saamgedra word gedurende wintermaande.
• Die skooltrui moet netjies pas en heel wees. Die moue mag onder geen omstandighede opgerol of opgeskuif word nie, ook nie uitgerafel wees nie.
• Truie en baadjies mag nie om die heupe vasgemaak word nie.
• Oortrektrui mag nie oor skooltrui gedra word nie.
• Plat swart skoolskoene – toeryg of bandjies (vasgemaak).
• Somermaande word kort blou enkel sokkies met turkoois strepies gedra. Hierdie sokkies moet netjies omgevou word.
Gedurende die wintermaande word donkerblou Bergvlam kniekouse of donkerblou broekiekouse (nie donkerblou sykouse nie) gedra.
• Kort kouse word nie onder broekiekouse gedra nie.
• Geen ‘secret socks’ nie.
• Provinsiale kleure: slegs eie baadjie van die vorige jaar of huidige jaar, mag op Vrydae gedra word.
• Vlammiedrag is verpligtend vir alle leerders. Netjiese tekkies in ʼn oorwegend neutrale kleur met kort, wit sportkouse word saam met Vlammiedrag gedra.
• Bergvlam serpe en donkerblou handskoene word slegs gedurende wintermaande gedra. (Mei – Augustus)
• ‘n Volledige skoolsweetpak mag tydens die Junie en November eksamen gedra word.
• Provinsiale drag mag SLEGS op ‘n Vrydag gedra word.
• Drimacs mag SLEGS saam met Vlammie- of sportdrag gedra word.
• Atletiekbroekies mag nie saam met Vlammiedrag gedra word nie.

b) SENIORDRAG (Gr 11 – 12)
• Voorgeskrewe donkerblouromp (op die knie).
• ‘n Wit voorgeskrewe kortmou oorhang-bloes.
• ‘n Donkerblou voorgeskrewe serpie word saam met die bloes gedra.
• Sykouse in vleeskleur gedurende wintermaande.
• ’n Kleurbaadjie, trui of oortrektrui (pull over) mag by hierdie uitrusting gedra word.
• Donkerblou hofskoene (sonder versiering; geen modetipe / “pumps” nie) met gemaklike hak, word gedra.

Die voorgeskrewe reëls t.o.v. haarstyle, juwele en grimering geld ook by die dra van seniordrag.
• Vlammiedrag is verpligtind vir alle leerders. Netjiese tekkies in ʼn oorwegend neutrale kleur met kort, wit sportkouse word saam met Vlammiedrag gedra.
• ‘n Volledige skoolsweetpak mag tydens die Junie en November eksamen gedra word.
• Provinsiale drag mag SLEGS op ‘n Vrydag gedra word.
• Drimacs mag SLEGS saam met Vlammie- of sportdrag gedra word.
• Atletiekbroekies mag nie saam met Vlammie- of sportdrag gedra word nie.

c) GRIMERING
• Geen grimering mag hoegenaamd saam met skool-, -seniordrag of sportdrag gedra word nie.
• Gekleurde lipglans of lipstiffie is ook ontoelaatbaar.

d) NAELS
• Naels moet kort en netjies wees.
• Naels mag nie oor vingerpunte steek nie.
• “French manicure” word toegelaat – geen naelkuns nie.
• “Nude” – kleur is ontoelaatbaar.
• Deurskynende naellak is toelaatbaar as naelversterking.
• Gel-naels is ontoelaatbaar.

e) JUWELE
• Geen armbande, ringe, tongringe, neusringe, hangertjies, “piercings” en
tatoeëring word vertoon nie.
• Een stel oorkrabbers in die vorm van ‘n klein goue of silwer ringetjie (maksimum grootte: R1-stuk), mag in laagste gaatjie in die oorlel gedra word.
• Diamantsteentjies, goue of silwer knoppies (studs) is toelaatbaar, maar nie groter as 5mm nie.
• Meer as een oorkrabbertjie per oor is ontoelaatbaar en mag nie toegeplak word nie.
• Slegs seëlringe mag gedra word.

f) HARE
• Lengte – Hare wat los gedra word, mag nie aan die kraag raak nie.
• Kuiwe moet minstens een vinger bokant die wenkbroulyn wees.
• Versierings: Wanneer hare op kraag hang, moet dit vasgemaak word met ‘n rooi, donkerblou, wit of turkoois lint, rekkies of -knippies.
• ‘Alice Bands’ en kopbande van tot 3cm in breedte is toelaatbaar.
• Blomme of skoenlappers mag nie gedra word nie.
• Vaste golwings word nie aanbeveel nie en uitspattige haarstyle sal nie toegelaat word nie.

• Kleur van hare en sonstrepies slegs volgens skakering van natuurlike haarkleur.
• Geen “Wet Look” word toegelaat nie.
• Hare moet netjies en beheerbaar wees.
Geen los slierte, wat langs die gesig en in die oë hang, word toegelaat nie.
• Geen buitensporige ‘Up styles’ word toegelaat nie.
• Geen uitermatige groot haarknippe nie.
• Geen bandannas word toegelaat nie.
• Geen kontrasterende of “two-tone” haarkleur sal toegelaat word nie.
• Indien leerders hul hieraan skuldig maak, sal hul ouers gevra word om te sorg dat die natuurlike haarkleur herstel word.

ETNIESE HAARSTYLE
• Verlengstukke se breedte: 0.7cm – 1.1cm
• Hare wat kraag raak, moet stewig en netjies vasgemaak word.
• Verlengstukke moet dieselfde kleur as die natuurlike haarkleur wees. (Toelaatbare kleur: Nr. 1, 1B, 4, 33 en 99J)
• Geen kontrasterende haarkleure word toegelaat nie.
• Geen partytjiestyle (Rihanna) of semi-haarstyle word toegelaat nie.
• “Weave” word toegelaat, mits dit vasgemaak is.
• Hare wat in die gesig is, moet vasgeknip wees.
• “Shaft”/sagte “dread” word nie toegelaat nie.
• Slegs gevlegde “Dreadlocks” word toegelaat.
Gel (‘styling gel’)mag slegs gebruik word om hare te stileer – nie in oormaat nie.
• Versierings: Wanneer hare op kraag hang, moet dit vasgemaak word met ‘n rooi, donkerblou, wit of turkoois lint, rekkies of -knippies.
• “Corn-rolls” (aangeheg aan eie hare) mag 1.1cm breed wees.
• Geen buitensporige ‘Up styles’ word toegelaat nie.
• Geen uitermatige groot haarknippe nie.
• Geen dik “box” braids toelaatbaar nie.
• Geen bandannas word toegelaat nie.
• Natuurlike lang hare moet vasgemaak word.

Girls

GIRLS
• Summer: 1 September – 30 April
• Winter: 1 May – 31 August
• Interim Period: 1 May – 31 May
1 September – 30 September

a) JUNIOR WEAR (Gr 8 to 10)
• School dress as prescribed. Length 5cm above the knee.
• A Bergvlam school jersey or pull-over may be worn during winter months.
• School jersey must fit properly. The sleeves may not be rolled up or pushed up the arm, and may not be torn.
• Jerseys and blazers may not be tied around the hips.
• Pullover may not be worn over school jersey.
• Flat black school shoes – lace-ups or straps (fastened).
• Short navy blue ankle socks with turquoise stripes must be worn in summer months. The socks must always be neatly folded over at the ankle.
• Navy blue Bergvlam bobby socks must be worn during the winter, or alternatively, navy blue tights (not pantyhose) may be worn.
• Short socks may not be worn underneath tights.
• No ‘secret socks’.
• Provincial Colours: Jacket or tracksuit jackets of recent and previous year may be worn on Fridays.
• Vlammie wear is compulsory for all learners. Only neat neutral colour takkies with short white sport socks may be worn with Vlammie wear.
• Bergvlam scarves and navy gloves may only be worn in winter (May- August).
• A complete school tracksuit may be worn during the June and November Examinations.
• Provincial colours may ONLY be worn on a Friday.
• Drimacs may ONLY be worn with Vlammie or sport wear.
• Athletic pants may not be worn with Vlammie wear.

b) SENIOR WEAR (Gr 11 & 12)
• Prescribed skirt (navy blue) at prescribed length (ON the knee).
• White short sleeve blouse (as prescribed).
• A navy blue scarf (as prescribed) must be worn with blouse.
• ‘Bare beige’ pantyhose during winter months.
• School blazer, jersey or pull-over may be worn with this outfit.
Navy blue court shoe (without trimmings) with comfortable heel must be worn. (No fashion type / “pumps’)
• NO FASHION shoes are permitted.
The prescribed rules in connection with hair styles, jewellery and make up are also applicable to senior uniform.

• Vlammie wear is compulsory for all learners. Only neat neutral colour takkies with short white sport socks may be worn with Vlammie wear.
• A complete school tracksuit may be worn during the June and November Examinations.
• Provincial colours may only be worn on a Friday.
• Drimacs may ONLY be worn with Vlammie or sport wear.

c) MAKE-UP
• No make-up may be worn with school uniform, senior dress or sports wear.
• No coloured lip ice/gloss/lipstick allowed.

d) NAILS
• Must be short, clean and neat.
• Nails may not show over the fingertips.
• “French” manicure is allowed – but no nail art.
• “Nude” colour not allowed.
• Clear nail varnish is allowed for nail strengthening.
• NO gel nails are permitted.

e) JEWELLERY
• No chains, bracelets, rings, tongue rings, earrings, piercings (not allowed to be covered) may be worn with school uniform.
• Tattoos may not be visible with school uniform.
• One pair of gold or silver studs or earrings (maximum size: R1-piece) may be worn in both ears. Earrings must be worn in the lowest hole of the ear lobe only.
• Diamond studs and gold or silver studs are allowed but not bigger than 5mm.
• More than one set of earrings is not permitted.
• Only signet rings may be worn.

f) HAIR
• Length – Hair must be tied up if it touches the collar.
• Fringes must be at least one vinger above the eyebrow line.
• Decorations: When hair hangs on the collar, it must be tied with a red, turquoise, white or navy blue ribbon, elastic or clips.
• “Alice Bands” and head bands, not wider than 3 cm, are allowed.
• No flowers or butterflies allowed in hair.
Permed hair is not recommended and any extra-ordinary hairstyles may not be worn.
• Colouring of hair and highlights may only be according to the shade of learners’ natural hair colour.
• No ‘wet look’ hair styles are permitted.
• Hair must be neat, tidy and combed.

• No loose bangs may hang around the face, nor in the eyes.
• No extraordinary up-styles permitted.
• No extraordinary size hair clips.
• No bandannas allowed.
• No contrasting or “two-tone” haircolour may be permitted.
• Learners who are guilty of this will be expected to re-dye hair to the natural colour.

g) ETHNIC HAIR STYLES
• Extension size: width 0.7cm – 1.1cm.
• Hair touching collar should be tied neatly and tightly.
• Extension colour must be according to natural hair colour. (Colours allowed: Nr. 1, 1B, 4, 33 and 99J)
• No contrasting colours allowed.
• No party (Rihanna) or semi- hair styles.
• Weave allowed – should be tied.
• Pin back hair from face.
• Shaft/soft dread not allowed.
• Only braided dreadlocks are allowed.
• Gel for styling is allowed – not excessive application.
• Decorations: When hair hangs on the collar, it must be tied with a red, turquoise, white or navy blue ribbon, elastic or clips.
• Corn-rolls (attached to the hair) may be 1.1cm thick.
• No extraordinary up-styles permitted.
• No extraordinary size hair clips.
• No thick “box” braids allowed.
• Natural long hair should be tied neatly.
• No bandannas allowed.

Seuns & Meisies

4.2 SPORTDRAG
• Geen sportdrag mag gedurende skoolure gedra word nie – tensy anders gereël deur die hoof.
• Verpligte voorgeskrewe sportdrag vir elke sportsoort word tydens wedstryde gedra.
• Toeskouers woon sportbyeenkomste SLEGS in skooldrag, Vlammiedrag, ondersteunersdrag of ’n skoolsweetpak by.
• Geen grimering of juweliersware word saam met sportdrag gedra nie.
• Op ‘n Vrydag mag eerste spanne met hul uitstapdrag skool toe kom.

4.3 ‘SIVVIE’-DRAG
• Geen uitlokkende kleredrag nie.
• Geen ontblotende middellywe en kleredrag nie.
• Dogters dra slegs kniebroeke. Geen kortbroeke – “shorts” nie.
• Geen T-hemde met afstootlike slagspreuke op nie.

4.4 MOTORS, MOTORFIETSE EN FIETSE
• Motorfietse en fietse moet in die fietsloods gelaat word. Fietsloods word soggens gesluit en aan die einde van die skooldag weer oopgesluit.
• Geen leerder mag met ‘n motor of motorfiets skool toe kom sonder dat toestemming vooraf verkry is vanaf ʼn adjunkhoof nie en die leerder ‘n motorlisensie het nie.
• Sulke leerders MÓÉT elke jaar skriftelik by die adjunkhoofde aansoek doen.
• Die skool aanvaar geen verantwoordelikheid indien voertuie, fietse of motorfietse beskadig word of verdwyn nie.

4.5 SELFONE, OORFONE OF LUIDSPREKERS
• Selfone, oorfone of luidsprekers kan soggens vir bewaring by ontvangs ingehandig word.
• Indien ‘n leerder dit nie by ontvangs inhandig nie, aanvaar die skool geen aanspreeklikheid nie.
• Indien ‘n leerder in besit van bogenoemde gedurende skoolure betrap word, word dit gekonfiskeer en mag dit een skooldag later NA SKOOL afgehaal word.
• Geen onderwyser, leerder of die skool se beeld mag op sosiale media skade ly nie.

4.6 SKOOLTASSE:
• Verkieslik donkerblou, swart, donkergroen,maroon of bruin: stewig met afskortings.
• Geen seil of ‘rucksack’ toegelaat nie. Geen pap rugsakke sonder versterkings nie.
• Geen graffiti van enige aard nie.
• Geen plakkers of kentekens nie.

4.7 SKOOLDAGBOEK
• Leerders word jaarliks van ‘n skooldagboek voorsien wat ook as kommunikasiekanaal met ouers dien.
• Indien dié dagboek verlore raak, moet ‘n ander skooldagboek aangekoop word.
• Die leerder se klasrooster moet ingeplak wees.

4.8 LEERDERS WAT SKOOL VERLAAT GEDURENDE SKOOLURE
• Slegs met vooraf toestemming van die hoof, adjunkhoofde of ‘n departementshoof.
• Ouers teken leerders by kantoor uit voordat leerders verskoon word.
• Indien ouers leerders nie persoonlik kan afhaal by kantoor nie, moet vooraf met die skool vir die plaasvervanger gereël word.
• Géén leerder word toegelaat om vergete artikels by die huis te gaan haal tydens skoolure nie.
• Dokters- en tandartsafsprake – slegs NOODGEVALLE. Ouers rig skriftelik ‘n versoek en toestemming moet by adjunkhoofde verkry word gedurende registerperiode.
• Géén leerder mag sy/haar ouer/s skakel om hom/haar by die skool te kom haal tydens skoolure nie.
• Ontvangs sal ouers skakel indien nodig.
• Toestemmingsbriefie: leerders sal slegs die skoolterrein gedurende skoolure mag verlaat met ‘n toestemmingsbriefie van ontvangs, wat by sekuriteit ingehandig word.

4.9 BYEENKOMSTE BY DIE SKOOL
Word altyd in skooldrag bygewoon tensy anders gereël deur Hoof.

4.10 AFWESIGHEDE
• NB: Geen vraestelle (toets of eksamen) sal op ’n ander datum as die geskeduleerde datum geskryf word nie.
• ’n Mediese sertifikaat word vereis indien afwesig tydens toetse en eksamens. Verontagsaming hiervan sal lei tot nul vir die betrokke toets.
• Glip van klasse en uitstaande afwesigheidsbriewe sal lei tot die negatiewe bepunting van leerders volgens die strafstelsel.

4.11 ROOK EN ALKOHOLIESE DRANK
• Die skool behou homself die reg voor om enige leerder ter enige tyd te toets teen verbode middels.
• Géén leerder in skooldrag mag rook, óf in die teenwoordigheid van rokers in skooldrag wees nie, nie op die skoolterrein, of by enige openbare plek nie.
Die gebruik van alkoholiese drank en gewoontevormende middels op die skoolterrein is absoluut verbode.
Geen leerder mag in besit wees van sigarette, alkohol en gewoontevormende middels op die skoolterrein nie.
• Indien leerders skuldig bevind word aan enige van bogenoemde, sal hy/sy dissiplinêr aangekla word.

4.12 DETENSIE
• Detensieklasse vind Maandae plaas by die skool vanaf 13:30 – 16:00.

4.13 WAPENS
Géén leerder mag wapens van enige aard op die skoolterrein in sy/haar besit hê nie.

4.15 SOKKIES
• Sosiale geleenthede is slegs vir Gr 9 tot 12 leerders.
• Slegs vir leerders van Hoërskool Bergvlam.
• Kleredrag moet aanvaarbaar wees soos gereël deur die skool.
• Géén uitspattige of uitlokkende klere nie.
• Leerders wat nie hou by die voorgeskrewe reëls t.o.v. sokkies nie, sal huis toe gestuur word.
Leerders wie se name op die swartlys is, mag nie sosiale geleenthede gedurende hierdie tydperk bywoon nie.

4.16 BUSVERVOER
• Leerders wat na sportbyeenkomste, of enige ander plek reis, is altyd in skooldrag of Vlammiedrag geklee.
• Daar word van leerders verwag om ‘n finansiële bydrae te maak t.o.v. busvervoer.

4.17 Water mag slegs in ‘n deursigtige bottel skool toe gebring word. Water mag nie gedurende onderrigtyd gedrink word nie.

Boys & Girls

4.2 SPORT WEAR
• No sport wear may be worn during school hours except when permission is given by the principal.
• Prescribed sport wear for every type of sport to be worn when matches and games are played.
• Spectators attend sport meetings ONLY in school uniform, Vlammie wear, a school track suit or supporter’s wear.
• No make-up or jewelry to be worn when wearing sport wear.
• First teams may wear their step-outs on a Friday ONLY.

4.3 CIVVIE WEAR
• No tempting clothing.
• No uncovered waist lines.
• Girls may only wear knee breeches. No shorts allowed.
• No T-shirts with repulsive slogans.


4.4 CARS, MOTOR BIKES AND BICYCLES
• Motorbikes and bicycles are to be parked in the bicycle shed. The shed is locked during the school day.
• Learners may only come to school with cars or motorbikes once permission is given by the deputy principals and only if the learner has obtained a valid driver’s license.
• Learners that come to school via any of the above types of transport must submit written application for permission from the deputy principals, annually.
• The school does not take any responsibility should vehicles, bicycles or motor bikes be damaged or stolen.

4.5 CELL PHONES, EARPHONES OR SPEAKERS
• Cell phones, earphones or speakers may be handed in at reception before school.
• The school does not accept responsibility for any of the above should learners not hand it in at reception.
• Should a learner have any of the above in his/her possession during school hours, it will be confiscated and may then ONLY be collected one day later after school.
• No teacher, learner or the school’s image may be damaged on social media.

4.6 SCHOOL BAGS:
• Preferably navy, black, dark green, maroon or brown: sturdy with divisions.
• No canvas or rucksacks allowed.
• No graffiti on bags.
• No stickers or logos.

4.7 SCHOOL DIARY
• Learners receive a school diary annually. This also serves as a communication channel to parents.
• A new school diary must be bought should this get lost.
• A learner’s timetable must be pasted into the diary.

4.8 LEARNERS LEAVING SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS
• Allowed only when prior permission has been given by principal / deputy principals or a head of department.
• Parents must collect learners at the front office and sign them out.
• Should parents not be able to collect their child from the school, prior arrangements should be made accordingly.
• No learner will be allowed to go home to fetch forgotten articles during school hours.
• Doctor’s and dentist’s appointments are allowed only in a case of EMERGENCY. Permission must be given by a deputy principal.
• No pupil may call a parent to pick him or her up during school hours.
• Reception will contact parents should it be necessary.
• Learners will not be allowed to leave the school grounds during school hours without a letter of permission from reception which is then submitted to security.

4.9 SCHOOL FUNCTIONS
To be attended in school uniform or as arranged by the principal.

4.10 ABSENTEEISM
• NB: No test or exam will be written on any other date than which was scheduled.
• A medical certificate must be submitted to school when a learner is absent for a test or an examination. Non compliance of this will lead to zero for the specific test.
• Bunking class and outstanding absenteeism letters will result in the learner receiving demerits according to the disciplinary code.
A medical certificate must also be submitted when a learner is absent on the specific day that projects should be handed in or any assessments done.
• A phone call is only notification and not proof of absenteeism.

4.11 SMOKING / DRINKING ALCOHOL / USE OF FORBIDDEN SUBSTANCES
• The school has the right to test any learner at any time for forbidden substances.
• No learner may smoke in school uniform or be in the presence of anyone else smoking – on the school grounds or other places.
• The use of alcohol and all other habit-forming substances on the school grounds, is totally forbidden.
• No learner may be in possession of cigarettes, alcohol or habit forming substances on the school grounds.
• If a learner is found guilty of any above mentioned offences, the said learner will not be allowed to attend this school any longer.

4.12 DETENTION
• Detention classes take place at the school on Mondays from 13:30 – 16:00.
• Should learners not be able to attend the detention, prior arrangements must be made with the deputy principal on duty.

4.13 WEAPONS
NO learner may have weapons of any kind in his / her possession on the school grounds.


4.14 THE FOLLOWING IS PROHIBITED ON THE SCHOOL GROUNDS AND AT SCHOOL FUNCTIONS
– Fighting – Teasing / Bullying
– Smoking and the use of alcoholic drinks – Theft
– Victimization of learners and staff – Pornography
– Flirting or sexual practices – Swearing
– Vandalism – Racism
– In possession of, the use of and the – Sexism
provision of drugs – Weapons
4.15 SOCIALS
• Social events are only for grade 9 to 12 learners.
• Only learners of Hoërskool Bergvlam may attend these functions.
• Dress must be according to school rules.
• No revealing clothing will be allowed.
• Learners who do not abide by school rules regarding the correct dress will be sent home.
• Learners, who are blacklisted, may not attend any social events during this time.

4.16 BUS TRANSPORT
• Learners travelling to sport meetings, or any other place, may ONLY wear school uniform or Vlammie wear.
• Learners will be expected to contribute financially towards transport.

4.17 Leaners may bring water to school only in a see through bottle. Water may not be consumed during class times.
